Complete Stage 3 of the Combustible Cladding Checklist

What Queensland building owners need to know

Queenslander building owners have 2 remaining weeks to complete stage 3 of the combustible cladding checklist. This stage requires building owners in Queensland to engage an RPEQ Certified Fire Engineer and register their details through the online Combustible Cladding Checklist.

This regulation only applies to owners of buildings that are class 2 to 9 of type A or B construction (excluding houses and townhouses), which were built or had cladding altered between 1 January 1994 and 1 October 2018.

Any building owner that fits this description must register their building and complete the 4 stages before their listed deadline.

Stage 1

Stage 3 follows the registration of buildings and completion of the Combustible Cladding Checklist (Stage 1) by 29 March this year.

Stage 2

Additionally, Stage 3 follows the completion of the building industry professional statement and Combustible Cladding Checklist (Stage 2) by 31 July.

Following the current stage, the final requirement is to ‘complete the building fire safety risk assessment, fire engineer statement and the combustible cladding checklist (part 3)’ by 3 May 2021.

What do you need to do?

For building owners, the most effective approach is to partner with an organisation that can provide assessment and guidance throughout each phase of this process.

Hendry’s experienced practitioners can provide fire engineering services and complete a thorough assessment of your building’s risk profile. We have performed works across 200 sites in Queensland to assist clients in understanding and managing their cladding risk as part of this government initiative.

Our practitioners also feature on several industry panels on fire safety concerning combustible cladding, including the VBA, AIBS and the International Fire Safety Standards coalition under the United Nations.

We can work with you to complete your building registration and provide an assessment of the risk profile of your buildings to develop a solution that maximises safety and compliance.
