QLD – HENDRY building certifiers provide clients with a Final Inspection Certificate upon the completion of building works stemming from a building approval. We see the need to provide an explanation of the process as a number of stakeholders are confused or lack adequate knowledge to appreciate what is required in obtaining a Final Inspection Certificate from a building certifier.
A Final Inspection Certificate is a statutory document issued under the Building Act 1975 and the Building Regulations 2006 and complies with the Building Code of Australia (BCA). A Final Inspection Certificate is issued by a building certifier for extensions, alterations or building works to existing buildings that do not require the issuing of Certificate of Classification.

The Building Act 1975 and Building Regulations 2006 contain the statutory provisions that guide an applicant and a building certifier to successfully issue a Final Inspection Certificate.
A building approval is required for all building works under the Building Act 1975 and Building Regulations 2006 except for works specifically exempted. The building certifier shall issue either a Final Inspection Certificate or Certificate of Classification on completion of the works to the satisfaction of the building certifier. The building certifier must issue either certificate if the building is suitable for occupation i.e. substantially completed.
