An emergency response exercise is a way to test if the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) is competent in responding to emergencies. The most common exercise is a trial evacuation, which gives the members of the ECO practice in using the communication system, making decisions, reporting, giving direction to occupants and managing the scenario.
It is a requirement of AS3745-2010 that emergency response procedures be tested (through the conduct of an emergency response exercise) within the first 12 months. AS3745-2010 also requires the first emergency response exercise be an evacuation exercise and thereafter, a program of site-specific Emergency Response Exercise Training including evacuation exercises be developed for the facility.
Hendry assists clients to plan and implement an Emergency Response Exercise Training program with the aim of assessing the effectiveness of the documented procedures and the ability for personnel to carry out their nominated duties.
