SA – HENDRY building surveyors advise that a building owner or tenant must not occupy a building on which building work has been carried out under a building rules certification unless a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued for the building. Under Section 67 of the Development Act 1993 a Certificate of Occupancy is required for buildings Class 2 to Class 9 under the Building Code of Australia (BCA). A Certificate of Occupancy is not required for a Class 1a or 10 building.
