WA – HENDRY building surveyors advise that the Building Act 2011 allows building permit applications for Class 1 and 10 buildings and structures to be submitted to the Permit Authority in two different ways; being a certified building permit application, or an uncertified building permit application under the building regulation.
The Building Act 2011 sets out mandatory timeframes for both application processes:
Both forms of building regulation building permit application for Class 1 and 10 buildings and structures are required to address the requirements of section 20 of the Building Act 2011 (including compliance with the Building Code of Australia) before a building permit will be issued.
All class 2 to 9 building permit building regulation applications are required to be certified (i.e. accompanied by a Certificate of Design Compliance prepared by a suitably registered Building Surveyor) and will also have a building permit issued within 10 days, provided that the requirements of section 20 of the Building Act 2011 are satisfactorily addressed.
