QLD – HENDRY building certifiers provide clients with a building approval for buildings ranging from minor building works through to the construction of a multi-storey building under the Building Regulations. Some building approval development applications for building works, even for small properties, can be complicated and time consuming for a building certifier to ensure compliance with the Building Code of Australia. To help our clients to better understand the building approval process we provide the following.

Building Approval: Building Regulations System

The Building Act 1975 covers extensively building development applications for a building approval and the requirements of when building work is defined as assessable, self assessable or exempt development. The Act requires a building approval to be issued prior to the commencement of any defined building works under the building regulations.

The Integrated Development Assessment System (IDAS) under Chapter 6 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 requires Application details – IDAS form 1 and Building work requiring assessment against the Building Act 1975 – IDAS form 2 to be provided to the building certifier for development applications (building approval) for building works requiring assessment against the Building Act 1975.
