AUST – Essential Property Services advises that the Building Code of Australia nominates in clause C3.6 Sliding fire doors, that signs that must be installed on each side of a sliding fire door stating ‘WARNING – SLIDING FIRE DOOR’ in capital letters and be no less than 50mm high. Fire door inspections must check for this requirement.

The installation of sliding fire doors must comply with AS 1905.1-2005 ‘Components for the protection of openings in fire-resistant walls – Fire resistant doorsets’ and maintenance of fire doors and fire door inspections in accordance with AS1851-2005 ‘Maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment’.

AS 1851-2005 requires sliding fire doors inspections to be regular, with inspections and rectification works recorded in the sliding fire door logbook.
