NSW – HENDRY building certifiers advise that fire safety engineering & alternative solutions under the building regulations and Building Code of Australia can require Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) specific approval. The FRNSW alternative solutions process involves a number of stages which require separate applications for assessment. These stages can be either mandatory or voluntary. Each assessment may incur a charge which will be payable by the applicant. If there is a possibility the development will be subject to SEPP 33 (hazardous materials) or other condition of consent requiring a Fire Safety Study (FSS) to be undertaken, then the FSS should be finalised before developing any fire engineered solutions… (more)
