QLD – A Corporation Manager (body corporate manager) recently requested Emergency Plan to provide the required emergency planning and evacuation signs (evacuation diagrams) under the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 (BFSR). A series of evacuation signs was prepared with specific ‘orientation’ locations nominated for each of the levels in the multi story office building.

The BFSR requires building owners, property and body corporate managers to provide in each facility an Evacuation Coordination Procedure (Emergency Response Procedures) to be retained on site in hard copy with other fire safety documentation including the Fire & Evacuation Plan) (Emergency Plan) and Evacuation Signs (Evacuation Diagrams).

(Note:  Various emergency planning symbols and indicators on evacuation signs under the BFSR and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service vary to those nominated in AS 3745-2010 Planning for emergencies in facilities. If the client requested dual compliance with BFSR and AS 3745-2010, then the BFSR symbols would take precedence and then followed by AS 3745-2010 for the symbols – indicators not included in the BFSR)
